Estyr: Worst Night of Your Life

Writer: Folk CanadaFolk Canada

Tiger Balme's Estyr returns solo with 'Worst Night of Your Life', a guitar-laden expression of rock bottom and the first single from her upcoming EP 'Interludes at Rock Bottom'. The track channels introspective folk, soft indie rock and the rawness of 90s alternative rock, drawing comparisons to Kathleen Edwards and Sarah Harmer, the cool angst of Lucy Dacus' 'Night Shift', and the existential dread of R.E.M.’s 'Losing My Religion'. The song is a meditation on despair and darkness, and the eventual spark of light that comes from not being alone in dealing with it.

'The title itself feels almost like a diagnosis—a moment when everything feels at its lowest but it can only get better from there,' Estyr muses. 'Worst Night of Your Life' is a message for anyone struggling to find a way out of grief. As Estyr says, 'It’s an honour to be at someone’s turning point moment,' and this track aims to be that emotional lifeline for anyone who is waiting on a change. The track is released through management and label services company Antidote Artists.
